April 2008 STAFF CHANGES AT ARTS SERVICES Dagmar Kocisova leaves Arts Services as Project Manager on 25th April to take on the role of Eastern Region Co-ordinator for the Big Dance Project. Arts Services would like to say a huge thanks to Dagmar for her contribution to the many projects she has worked on over the past two years and wish her the best of luck with her future career. February 2008 TILTED PRODUCTIONS IS TO BECOME A REGULARLY FUNDED ORGANISATION Arts Council England East announced on Friday 1st February that Tilted Productions is to be bought onto the funder's portfolio as the first dance based regularly funded organisation in the eastern region. The funding will enable the company to further build upon the key regional partnerships which it has been developing over the past 2 years, principally with DanceEast in Ipswich and the Mercury Theatre in Colchester. Fiona Mason, Arts Services Director, was selected to particpate in ACE East's Escalator Leadership scheme and the funds will support a tailor made mentoring and training programme. GLACIER TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED Tilted Productions new dance-theatre production GLACIER Premiere's at the Mercury Theatre Colchester on Saturday 19th January and then tours the UK until April 2008. December 2007 SEGUE announces new programm of concerts SEGUE Productions presents a new series of concerts for 07/08 starting with Adriano Adewale Group at the Lakeside Theatre at the University of Essex in Colchester on Saturday 8th December. The JAZZ at the Lakeside series will see future performances by Gilad Atzmon on 30 January, Basquiat Strings 26 February, Zoe Rahman 7 March, Asaf Sirkis Trio 22 April and Portico Quartet on the 17 May. In addition to the uni gigs, Segue presents Courtney Pine's Tradition in Transition concert at the New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich on 15 February. HEATHER EDDINGTON'S STATE OF FLUX DANCEFILM COMPANY AWARDED ACE FUNDING HEATHER EDDINGTON has been awarded a grant from Arts Council England East to support the creation and presentation of A Blank Canvas, a new dancefilm project which will be produced in 2008 and toured in the east of England. October 2007 Tilted Productions selected to present Glacier at British Dance Edition 2008 Tilted Productions is currently in rehearsal for the company's new dance-theatre production GLACIER. The show premieres at the Mercury Theatre Colchester before touring nationally until April 2008. The production has been selected for the major platform for UK dance, British Dance Edition 2008, which takes place in Liverpool from the 30th January - 2nd February 2008. August 2007 Tilted Productions awarded Arts Council England funding for new production Tilted Productions the dance-theatre company led by award winning choreographer Maresa von Stockert has been awarded National Touring funds from Arts Council England East to support the creation and development of "Glacier". The new production, which deals with personal reactions to global warming and environmental change, will be rich with von Stockert's trademark styles of dark ironic humour, an unique use of set and props and unusual virtuosity. The production opens at the Mercury Theatre in Colchester in January 2008 before touring the UK until April 2008. Jean Abreu - new programme announced Jean Abreu Dance Company will premiere a new programme, Aequus + Dialogo at the New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich on 2 & 3 February 2007. The new work has been commissioned by DanceEast and the New Wolsey Theatre. The premiere will be the culmination of a residency hosted by the two organisations. Featuring 5 dancers and live music from 2 musicians it promises to be a vibrant visual and aural feast. The work will also be presented in the Woking Festival on 30 March. James Hewison awarded Arts Council Funding Choreographer James Hewison has been awarded funding from Arts Council England East under the Artist Time Space Money initiative. The scheme aims to make a lasting difference to professional artists and their working environments by offering specific areas of support. James will use the funding to undertake a series of micro-workshops, research and development which will enable him to re-evaluate his practice in a number of ways. Tom Dale awarded Arts Council Funding Tom Dale has been awarded funding from Arts Council England East to support the creation of a new work which will be his entry for the Place Prize. Dale is a Place Prize semi-finalist and the new work will be presented at The Place, London in September as part of the three week long competition. The group meets each monday to explore a range of performance styles. Maresa's work with the group will provide participants with an insight into her unique style of theatre direction, particularly her use of objects in the context of movement. the sessions will take place on May 22nd, June 5th, June 12th and June 19th.
