Cie 13 / Rosa Mei has over 10 years of experience presenting quirky, movement-based works in traditional and non-traditional theatre settings, from a elevator factory in Antwerpen to a hockey stadium in Prague to the National Theatre of Guatemala.
Based in Antwerpen, Belgium, Cie 13 often collaborates with Antwerpen Open to present dance theater works (The Unknown Sopranos, Radio Isotope, Black Monk) in unusual locations. Cie 13 (formerly Rosa Mei Dance Co.) has performed internationally in Europe (Belgium, Scotland, the Czech Republic, Poland, Estonia, Romania and Turkey) and North and South America (New York and Guatemala).
Awarded a prestigious European Cultural Foundation Grant in 2005, Cie 13 is supported by the cultural ministry of the province of Antwerpen and has been widely praised for its innovative direction and virtuostic performers. The Cie 13 trademark diversity in movement (ballet dancers, bboys and martial artists) and music (opera, beatbox, rap, percussion and jazz instrumentals) makes it unique in the international theatre scene the radical spin doctors of verve and momentum.
