Cycle rides and walks through the essex countryside punctuated by poetry en-route. After the success of Spoke'n'Word 2006, a new, expanded version will take place over ten weekends, from the end of April to end of June 2007. Trips of three hours duration include walks or cycle rides through the beautiful north Essex countryside with poet and broadcaster, Martin Newell as tour guide. This time however, as well as the original Spoke'n'Word trips of 2006, we have added two exciting new options: Thorrington Tide Mill Walk A trip commencing with a tour of one of East Anglia's only working tide-mills, followed by a three to four mile walk back to Wivenhoe along the banks of the river Colne This walk will be of special interest to bird-lovers and is punctuated by anecdotes and poems from tour guide, Martin Newell. Transport out to Thorrington Mill is by minibus from Wivenhoe Rail Station. By Bicycle To Bentley Green A n enjoyable bike ride over farm tracks and quiet lanes to Great Spoke'n'Word Original A second series of the guided bike-rides and walks launched last year which proved so popular. Martin Newell takes you along the Colne riverside, up gentle slopes and through woods and leafy lanes to the 13 th century ruins of St Peters Church, Alresford − complete with the story of the pirate's grave.
