State of Flux DanceFilm Company
Director Heather Eddington leads the company of inspirational artists in exploring the possibilities of dancefilm and highly innovative dancefilm installation work where movement, images and environment blend and the performance begins. Eddington's sensitive, quirky and adventurous style, has lead her to find a language within dancefilm which is refreshing and very much her own.
CURRENT PROJECTS: A BLANK CANVAS Supported by Arts Council England East, “A blank canvas” blends the mediums of dance, film, animation and sculpture into a dancefilm installation. The piece is designed to be shown either as a short film in a performance context or exhibited in a range of spaces such as galleries and foyers and which can remain in each space for any specified period of time.
Heather Eddington’s latest offering utilises a host of delightfully eccentric and playful characters to both play with and challenge our perceptions of depth, perimeters, reality and subconscious. Through residencies at The Sainsbury’s Centre for Visual Arts and at DanceEast , choreographer Heather Eddington has collaborated with a range of highly gifted and innovative artists to create “A blank canvas”. Heather Eddington trained under David Hinton at The Place, and has already created and displayed works at The Pulse Festival, Dance for Screen and The Junction. With the increased financial backing behind this latest piece Heather is looking to develop links with further local and national venues with a view to creating an exciting and mutually beneficial working relationship. Length: 10 mins Version 1: Gallery/Exhibition Spaces Wall-hung and shown on 6 TFT monitors on a loop. Can be accompanied by an interpretive exhibition about the making of the piece. Version 2: Performance spaces Projected onto a large purpose built screen, mounted on stage. Would be suitable as the opening piece or first after interval piece of a mixed bill performance. Can be accompanied by a foyer exhibition about the making of the piece. Workshops: State of Flux can provide practical film-making workshops in which the participants make their own simple short-film. Equipment is provided. CURIOUS

by State of Flux Dancefilm Company Through the unique blending of sculpture and dancefilm a visually absorbing three-dimensional environment is created. Two curious characters tentatively move over and through the curvaceous shapes, spaces and intricacies of this new world they inhabit with a rising sense of confidence, surprise and inventiveness. Curious dancefilm installation is an enthralling collaboration between Director and Choreographer Heather Eddington and Sculptor Nyanda Yekwai. These two talented and inspirational young artists have come together to create a distinctive performance style where art forms fuse seamlessly together. Company Director Curious is performed by Delphine Gaborit, dancer for Hofesh Shechter and Bonachela Dance Company and Catriona Johnston.
